The Team

Sally Higham – Chief Executive. Sally has worked for many years with youth services, education, charities, social enterprises and the voluntary sector providing strategy, evaluation and funding support. She feels strongly about communities retaining their independence and supporting them to run whatever type of club or group local people feel they need. Sally is also a Non-executive Director for the Aster Group, a leading housing, homes and care services provider. She was previous Chair of ask Wiltshire, a Wiltshire parenting support charity, she voluntarily set up and ran a large youth club for three years, and does various other small bits of volunteering.


Barrie Taylor – Development Director. Barrie has worked with Sally since 2003 on projects ranging from intensive Youth Services value-for-money key projects, the creation of educational tools, National Youth Agency development streams and much more. His creativeness and imagination means he is focused on leading and continuously improving the RunAClub product with the technical team and is already developing potential new areas with our partners. Barrie is the Chair of Governors for a four school Federation and is involved in a multitude of other voluntary projects.


Julie Rouffiac – Finance Controller. Julie joined us in the summer of 2012 and looks after our Finance department, ensuring that our new contracts come on board smoothly and, very importantly, that our bills are paid! She has held a mixture of finance roles at a senior level, and has supported many voluntary projects with her finance skills.


Alexandra Bond – Head of Communications. Alex has supported the team since 2005 and has a breadth of commercial experience that has translated well to the public and third sector. Al heads up all our communications, is responsible for the look and feel of the RunAClub website, and leads on our news and features. She is the Fundraising Committee Manager for her local primary school and a Pre-School Committee member.


Jo Grant – Account Manager. Jo joined the RunAClub team halfway through 2012. Her background includes working with local authorities/charities on an interim basis at a senior level, and has particular expertise in children and young people services and quality standards. Jo is developing new partnerships with Local Authorities. Previously a school governor, Jo now volunteers on the Board of Creative Youth Network in Bristol.


Samantha Bland – Finance. Sam joined us in late 2012 and is training as an accountant. Sam works on a mixture of administration and finance roles and is great at flexible working!

Jim Farmery - Director of Business Investment, Creative England, a £10m programme growing creative businesses working in TV, film, games and digital media. Jim started his technology career at J Sainsbury plc, moved to Pace Micro Technology in 1995 and subsequently to the regional development agency Yorkshire Forward for ten years in economic development. Jim is Junior President of the local cricket team where his boys play. He has fundraised and coached cricket, rugby and football for junior clubs in Yorkshire.


Bjorn Howard – Group Chief Executive of The Aster Group. Worked for several housing organisations in the public and independent sectors. Previous Non-executive Director of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust.


Kevin Johnson – Consultant and innovator who has helped more than 200 organisations globally. Late of Cisco’s non-profit strategic consultancy, where he led their UK & Ireland team, Education practice in Europe, and global ‘Connected events’ and ‘Ageing well’ programmes. Previously with Accenture, Courtaulds, Zeneca and ICI.


Lord Ian MacLaurin – Chairman of Paperless Receipts/eReceipts. Previous Chairman of Vodafone, previous Chairman and Chief Executive of Tesco. Ian is a former Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board and a former Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire.


Mary McKenna – Non-Executive Director and Social Investor. A well-known London based technology entrepreneur and angel investor, Mary co-founded successful e-learning company Learning Pool in 2006, on the back of a long local government career. She exited the company in May 2014 in order to get back into start-up land.


Mike Power OBE – Non-executive Director for Sport and Recreational Alliance, British Swimming and Brentford Football Club. Previous Chief Operating Officer for LOCOG, President Proctor and Gamble. Mike also teaches at the Oxford University Business School and the London School of Economics.


Tim Ramsdale – Owner and Founder of Insiteability – Third Sector digital company. Tim is a tech entrepreneur, bringing strategic and critical business thinking and creativity to our tech team.


Stephen Rockman- Founder of Merism Capital, a pan European seed-stage fund investing in impact start-ups in the health and education sectors. Previously Stephen spent twenty years in commercial roles with global software and technology companies in the UK, Europe and Israel. Stephen mentors and advises start-ups at Wayra UK and Innovation RCA, is an occasional guest lecturer on social investment and sits on the board of a number of social businesses.


Annika Small – Chief Executive of Nominet Trust. Previous Director of the Tony Blair Foundation and Chief Executive of Futurelab. Non-executive Director of National Foundation for Educational Research. Previous Trustee of NESTA and South West Screen.
